Obituary of Lewallen Armes

Mr. Lewallen Armes, age 93 of Wartburg, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday January 13, 2019. He was born on Fork Mountain and raised on Flat Fork. Allen was an active and faithful member of Star of Hope Chapel Church. He was a World War II Navy veteran and was retired from GM/Pontiac in Michigan. Allen also served as an auxiliary member of the Coast Guard in Ft. Walton Beach, FL. He enjoyed several outdoor activities including fishing and gardening.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents: Kirlie and Lucinda Armes.

His wife of thirteen years: Joyce Jacks Armes.

And his wife of forty-nine years: Gertrude Hazel Armes.

One brother and sister-in-law: John M. and Minnie Ann Armes.

And one sister and brother-in-law: Lueaida and Charles Human.

 

He is survived by: Steve and Amber Jacks of Kingston, Devona and Jack Adkins of Wartburg, and Judy Jacks Hall of Coalfield.

One brother and sister-in-law: William “Foye” and Juanita Armes of Wartburg.

Five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

His niece: Janet and Mike Goddard.

And his nephew: Tim and Lorrie Armes all of Wartburg.

Along with a host of other sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and special friends.

 

The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at Lifecare Center of Morgan County for their care, love and kindness. They would also like to express a special thank you to Eden Ledbetter and Cindi Jones.

 

The family will receive friends Wednesday January 16, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Davis Funeral Home, Wartburg. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 PM with Pastor Darrel Daugherty officiating. Graveside services will be 12:00 PM Thursday January 17, 2019 in Flat Fork Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 149 Honor Guard.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to Star of Hope Chapel Church, PO Box 1651, Harriman, TN 37748.
